As everybody knows, I’m the laziest gal in town.

And with pure data there is a bit of burocracy of reencoding videos. I keep trying new encoding methods, but I always need to test the videos many times until I find the proper encoding.

So when I find myself fiddling with videos to feed my pure data vj patch, and provided that many times a bad encoding can crash your pd, I tend not to use my vj patch for testing the videos. I have this little patch to do it:

The best use is to call it from the folder where the videos you want to test are located, like this:

acracia@omelas:~$pd /home/acracia/pdvideotester/video_tester.pd

You will see just the files terminated in .mov.
It uses - pidip (from Yves Degoyon) and pdp (from Tom Schouten)
